Commended, Dave Galligan Health Service Award: Jan Tomlinson, North Wales Health
Jan’s the branch secretary of UNISON Cymru Wales’s largest branch — North Wales Health. The depth of experience she’s built up over 35 years as a NUPE/UNISON member means she’s a role model for her reps in how to support members and improve staff welfare.
She makes the most of every opportunity to recruit new members and stewards. Jan’s generous with her time and is always encouraging people to become more active in the branch. She’s extremely busy and often works well into the evenings and weekends. Jan takes pride in seeing members and stewards within the branch being successful in their outcomes.
Jan and the North Wales Health branch can point to many successful campaigns over the years and not least, fighting to keep services within the health board at a time when Betsi Cadwaladr remains in special measures.
She spent a number of years as chair of our Cymru Wales Health Committee and as part of the convenor team, is always ready to support a regional or national campaign.
